Progress Report : Another step forward

You might have read a little more about my plans in The Helensburgh Advertiser this week. I am very grateful to The Helensburgh Advertiser for the article and for allowing me to share my plans with the wider community. The article explored in more detail some of my longer-term plans including my plan to operate a cook school hopefully in 2 or 3 years and my plans for food development and inclusion within the local community. I hope to share more information about each of these plans in the coming weeks once the kiosk is up and running. Until then you can read the article here if you have not already.







I made another step forward in the opening off the kiosk last week and ordered some lovely terrace furniture. After weeks of looking online and trying to piece some ideas together I eventually gave up and went to a professional. Considering our proximity to the park I opted for stylish but practical chairs and tables which will be comfortable and safe for little people. They will also be light weight so easy to move and will give greater flexibility for larger parties. The furniture will hopefully arrive in the next ten days which is promising. Next week, I will begin the design process in the café. The building design of the Pavilion and the interior of the café lends itself to the very fashionable and trendy Nordic style. I plan to use this theme as a building bloc, injecting some colour and keeping comfort and functionality in mind.


I am very pleased to report that I have filled most of our front of house and back of house positions needed to open the kiosk. We are still accepting CV’s and recruiting for positions in the café but these roles will begin a little later in the year. One key role we still require to fill for the kiosk is a Kitchen Porter position. This will initially be for 20 hours per week, but I expect this to increase when the café opens. No experience is necessary but ideally, I am looking for a candidate that is looking to develop a career in hospitality or professional cookery. Next week I hope to meet with our new team on site and begin the preparation needed to open the kiosk. This means lots of cooking! My favourite part. I cannot wait to share menu ideas with you in coming weeks.
